Dassia location:
On the E coast of
Corfu, facing Albania and the Greek mainland, 8½ mls N of Corfu Town and airport. On the flat, narrow coastal strip backed by verdant wooded hills.
General Description:
A twin resort with
Ipsos, a mile to the N. It lies on both sides of the broad and busy main road, with much of the accommodation in the small roads leading towards the beach. A well-developed tourist area although the winding main road is badly lit at night and has inadequate provision for pedestrians. Dafnila is in a secluded, thickly wooded area, half a mile away.
Market/Suitability: All ages, but particularly young groups and couples under 35.
Dassia Accommodation:
Campsite, rooms, studios, hotels. Somewhat unusually for
Corfu, there is a preponderance of larger holiday hotels, rather like the Spanish costas
Beaches in Dassia:
A long but very narrow stretch of gently sloping shingle and pebble backed by olive and pine trees. Flat aquamarine water, ideal for water-skiing and well-equipped for water sports; swimming platforms.
Shopping: Caters for local needs, with many beach shops, minimarkets, leather and jewellery shops; otherwise visit Corfu Town.
Entertainments:
Daytime: all water sports; parascending, water-skiing, pedalloes, banana boats and boat hire.
Evening: many bars, two discos and Greek dancing in many of the thatched tavernas provide variety
Eating out: Tavernas, snack bars, pizzerias, casual and mainly inexpensive beach bars and restaurants.
Public transport:
Very good bus service to Corfu Town; the "blue bus" runs half-hourly. Dassia is on the "green bus" long-distance route from Corfu to Kassiopi about 8 services daily
Dassia local excursions:
Variety of excursions including Greek village trip; boat trips to Paxos, mainland Greece and Albania; and mountain bike trips to
