The hottest summer days are however tempered by the cooling sea breezes, making for comfortable temperatures.
These winds are at their strongest in July and August when the Meltimi wind blows, which coincides well with the hottest summer weather. Kavos sea temperature at this time of year is very warm too, peaking at 24C in late summer, and so perfect for swimming. Sunny winter days can still be quite frequent and pleasant, with temperatures in the low teens. However it is quite possible to get a few consecutive days of stormy windy weather. Kavos town becomes very quiet in the winter and many of the hotels and restaurants are shut. In addition, getting ferries to and from the island are much less frequent and the seas can get quite rough at stormy times. Some people do enjoy this much quieter time of year however
